I remember when they came out with that article. It really bothered me as I was working in the healthcare field and knew it was illegal to break the privacy of a patient.

Anybody remember a QFR on JW nurses tattling on blood transfusions?
by Open mind ini've looked on jwn (first) and watchtower library (second) and can't find a questions from readers that i thought i remembered from the 70s or 80s.
maybe it wasn't actually a qfr.
anyway, the gist of the question was, what does a conscientious jw nurse do when, in the course of her duties, she becomes aware of a fellow jw who is accepting a blood transfusion or getting an abortion.

Ex jw wife
by sspo ini find it interesting that i posted about 16 days ago concerning whether i should write a letter and.
allow my ex wife to be free and marry.. saturday night she called out of the blue ( maybe there is a god upthere looking down) after 3 years of not talking to her and she wants to meets.. we met last night and after small talk about how we are both doing and family stuff, she asked me if i would write a letter.
freeing her or releasing her from our marriage without admitting adultery, since i don't believe in the bible anymore,.

She if really free to remarry now. She needs to learn to live by the same rules she is putting everyone else under.
Maybe she will see the harshness of having a cult run her life?

I've been here 3 yrs., but it doesn't seem like it. Lurked before. It was Tim's board that got me started, Beyond Jehovah's Witnesses.
I enjoy the range of posters on here and I continue to learn from many here. Thanks to all of you.

would you want to be part of any religion that changes the bible on purpose?...
by oompa in...and makes it say what they want it to in order to fit their doctrines???
nearly every jw and non would answer no!
i wish i had started off my last elder visit with that question.

Adding the name Jehovah in the Greek Scriptures when not quoting a scripture from the Hebrew Scriptures is dishonest. It shows that they have taken on the job of deciphering which verse refers to God and which to Jesus.
They are controlling readers minds rather than allowing them to decipher the meaning of the scripture for themselves. If they didn't, persons just might realize that in some verses, Jesus and God are called by the same names such as "alpha and omega".
Hope you are doing well, Oompa.

Good luck with sobriety, Oompa. I'm afraid for you. Alcohol addiction becomes a physical/mental disease. Good intentions and personal resolve are necessary, but more is needed. You will become physically sick without the alcohol and you need treatment and support.
Cybersupport is definitely not enough. You need to get into treatment for both the physical and mental aspects of the disease. You must treat both sides of the issue at the same time. Don't fool yourself into thinking that the tendrils are not deeply imbedded into all aspects of your life.
Please get the help you need and deserve. Your life will be so much better without it and you deserve to have that better life along with your family. Do it before you damage your relationships with your wife/children beyond repair.
Best wishes to you. cl

Sorry for the pain you feel. I remember the witnesses saying that a recently reinstated person is the weakest one spiritually. You probably know how they treat "weak" ones.
Some of their reaction may have to do with the gossip about why you were dfd. They are actually encouraged to speculate by others and even by the talk one of the elders gives after you are dfd. No, they don't name the person, but they describe a type of behavior that may lead to a specific sin. Imagination takes it from there.
You will always have to "prove" yourself as a worthy associate to them. I cannot think of an instance where this kind of behavior was encouraged by Jesus.

I have always wanted to visit, but never made it yet. The painting is beautiful. A friend of mine used to live there and didn't like it due to the lack of sunshine. Too gray and rainy for him.
I still want to visit.

Must see video on Youtube where a JW is clearly defeated on the trinity subject...
by Tuesday inpersonally i hate bible ping-pong.
i don't think it ever gets anywhere, i don't think it solves anything and i don't think the participants ever make any head room.
however i will say in this case, i have been proven wrong.

Two translation connect Jesus being the firstborn with his being preeminent. So, I still think the man has a point. There can be only one TRUE God, but many false.
I may be a god to my dog, but I am not the TRUE God.

He has a valid point with Col. 1:15-18. Two translations of the Bible use this word. The King James Version states in vs. 18 "that in all things he might have the preeminence." The Revised Standard Version states in vs. 18 "that in everything he might be preeminent."
The dictionary defines preeminence as "surpassing all others". I did not know about the two contradicting verses where one said Manasseh was the firstborn and another said that Ephraim was the firstborn.
Does anyone know the explanation the witnesses would give for this?
